Commissioning of a United States ship involves numerous expenses, from site preparation to activities for the crew to receptions to port charges. The Navy is limited in what it can pay for with tax dollars. One of the purposes of the USS Independence Commissioning Committee is to raise funds for expenses that the Navy cannot pay.
The Committee welcomes all contributions toward the expenses of the commissioning of the USS Independence. Please make check payable to
